Deb Tucker Ruler Lab

If you have not used a Deb Tucker ruler you are in for a treat.  The TuckerTrimmer takes the frustration out of making half-square triangles, combined square triangles, and quarter square triangles.  Using the Wing Clipper, your flying geese units will be perfect.  I believe De Tucker rulers are some of the best rulers and mastering these two rulers gives you a great start to eliminating a lot of the frustrations in block construction.

Beginning Quilt Making Class 2 of 7

Do you want to learn how to make a quilt top with your sewing machine or sharpen your basic skills?  Join us for the Beginning Quilt Making class.  In this class we make a sampler quilt top of 9 different blocks.  We use Lori Holt’s “Farm Girl Vintage” book for our class.  The topics that are covered include:  how to select fabric, accurate seam allowance, rotary cutting, most commonly used piecing techniques, and finishing.  No prework is required.  We will discuss fabric selection and required tools in the first class.

Beginning Paper Piecing

This is a basic tool most quilters should learn.  Some Blocks will be easier using this technique and/or you may eye a pattern you like using this technique.  To learn the basics, you will will be picking a miniature pattern to make.  Many options are available, and kits are also an option.  By the end of class, you will have the basics required to tackle even the most difficult projects.

Machine Quilting (FULL!)

Too many quilt tops and not enough time? Tired of machine quilting “in the ditch”? Well, drop those feed dogs and take off with all the lovely quilting stencils that you really want to use. This hands-on class will focus on freehand quilting with information and demonstrations of quilting with a darning foot, nylon thread and various other specialty threads. Proper techniques for quilting full sized quilts will also be discussed. Students must know how to remove, cover or lower feed dogs and must have a darning foot

4 in 1 Triangle Ruler Lab

Make half square triangles the easy way with the Half Square 4-in-1 Triangle Ruler from Creative Grids.  Create half-square triangles (HST) in multiple sizes using the same tool.  Whichever technique is used in the pattern you choose can be completed with this ruler.  All four techniques will be demonstrated, and you will put your new skills to use making the Wyoming Star table runner.  Kits like the store sample are available.
